After leaving government in early 2001, Swire was interviewed regularly by the media, often more than once a week. He has appeared in all of the major U.S. papers, on national television and radio programs, and in international media.

During Swire’s work in the Obama-Biden Transition and the National Economic Council, he did not give press interviews.
